Dos Osos Golf Club

The course at the heart of the community

Eighteen holes threading through Rancho San Pasqual โ€” closed for a year, rebuilt from the irrigation up, and reborn in 2025 as Dos Osos. Here's the story, and how to play it.

The comeback

From Eagle Crest to Dos Osos

For three decades the course was Eagle Crest Golf Club โ€” a David Rainville design that opened in 1992 and gave Rancho San Pasqual its fairway views. After years of decline that neighbors watched from their backyards, new owners stepped in: in May 2024 they brought on JC Golf (the operator behind Rancho Bernardo Inn and Twin Oaks) and closed the course for a top-to-bottom renovation โ€” rebuilt irrigation, reshaped bunkers, cleared drainage tunnels, a restored waterfall on No. 6, and drought-tolerant Bermuda turf.

The course soft-opened November 1, 2024 and held its grand opening May 19, 2025 with city officials and the county supervisor on hand. The new name honors dos osos โ€” two rehabilitated California black bears released by the San Diego Humane Society's Ramona Wildlife Center.

Course history

Thirty years on Old Ranch Road

  • 1992

Opens as Eagle Crest Golf Club โ€” 18 holes, par 72, designed by David A. Rainville at 2492 Old Ranch Rd.

  • Late 1990s

Rancho San Pasqual's ~580 homes rise around the fairways.

  • 2017โ€“2019

Ownership publicly questions the course's viability; it stays open, hosting charity tournaments, but maintenance slips.

  • 2020โ€“2023

The hard years โ€” conditions deteriorate badly, and neighbors watch the course they bought their homes around go to seed.

  • May 2024

New owners hire JC Golf and close the course for a full renovation: irrigation, bunkers, drainage, turf, clubhouse.

  • Nov 1, 2024

Soft opening under the new name: Dos Osos Golf Club.

  • May 19, 2025

Grand opening ribbon-cutting with Escondido officials and County Supervisor Jim Desmond.

  • Today

Open daily with green fees in the ~$55 range; conditions continue to improve season over season. Recognized among 2025's "most improved" courses.
