Updated
What's here
One place for what matters to valley residents: verified local news, events and school dates, fire safety and our evacuation zone, schools, neighborhood guides for Rancho San Pasqual and Vistamonte, the golf course, things to do, valley history, and homes for sale and recent sales.
Coverage centers on Rancho San Pasqual and Vistamonte, then the rest of the valley. Citywide stories and city feed items are labeled "Escondido, 10 min away" so they're easy to tell apart.
How we check facts
- Primary sources first. We work from city, county, school-district and agency documents, official maps and the organizers' own pages, and we link the source on every story and event.
- Only what we can confirm. If something can't be verified, it doesn't go up. When a result isn't known yet, we say so instead of guessing.
- Dates on everything. Stories and events carry their dates, guide and reference pages show when they were last updated, and time-limited items drop off when they're over.
- Neutral, resident-first. We report what happened and what it means for the neighborhood, not opinions or rumors.
- Automatic feeds are labeled. Some items come straight from the City of Escondido, Escondido Police and CAL FIRE feeds, and weather alerts come from the National Weather Service. Each links to the original, and on the News page they're grouped under "From the city, police & CAL FIRE feeds".
Corrections
If we got something wrong or something has changed, email us or use the contact page. We fix errors as soon as we confirm them and update the page date.
Independence
San Pasqual Valley Life isn't affiliated with either homeowners association, the school districts, the City of Escondido or the golf club. Real estate information comes from MLS listing data, and each listing links to its property page; see the disclaimer at the bottom of every page.
