San Pasqual Union K-8 & high school options: two districts, one valley
A common point of confusion: San Pasqual Union (K-8) and San Pasqual High School belong to two entirely separate school districts. This page untangles it.

The 60-second version
Valley kids attend San Pasqual Union School (K-8) — a one-school district all its own, founded 1918. For high school, students move into the Escondido Union High School District, a separate district with its own board and boundaries. Despite the shared name, your assigned high school depends on your address: on EUHSD's Find Your School map, Rancho San Pasqual and Vistamonte addresses are in Orange Glen High's attendance area, while San Pasqual High's area covers the eastern valley along SR-78.San Pasqual Union: the little school in the valley
Founded in 1918, San Pasqual Union is its own school district with exactly one school. About 548 students attend the 26-acre campus at 15305 Rockwood Road, opened in 2001, with 29 classrooms, two science labs, an 18,000-book library, and the iconic red "Barn" gym. The campus is about half a mile from Vistamonte and just across Rockwood Rd from Rancho San Pasqual.
- District & school in one: its own five-member elected board and superintendent
- Serves: the San Pasqual Valley, including Rancho San Pasqual (confirm any address with the district's boundary map)
- Community: active PTO and the San Pasqual Union Foundation (its next Saints Soirée, "Aloha Nights," is Saturday, February 27, 2027)
- Transfers: families outside the boundary regularly apply for space-available interdistrict transfers (applications open March 1 for the following year)

San Pasqual High School
3300 Bear Valley Parkway — home of the Golden Eagles (~1,850 students, opened 1972). Boys soccer won the 2023 CIF Southern California Regional Division II title, and the school took Gold in the 2026 Best of North County awards. Alumni include US soccer star Shannon MacMillan and MySpace co-founder Tom Anderson.
Which high school is yours?
EUHSD assigns high schools by address. On its boundary map, Rancho San Pasqual and Vistamonte addresses are in Orange Glen High's attendance area; addresses farther east along SR-78 are in San Pasqual High's. The district also offers Del Lago Academy (science/health-focused campus) by application. Confirm with the district's official locator before making plans — or before buying a home based on a school.
Nearby & choice schools
Families outside the San Pasqual Union boundary fall in the Escondido Union School District (K-8): Bear Valley Middle and Rincon Middle serve the east side, and Quantum Academy (grades 4–8, at Rincon) is EUSD's STEM choice school. Private and charter options are within a short drive.
Schools news to watch
SPHS agriculture program: in 2025 the district wound down San Pasqual High's long-standing ag/FFA program; students interested in agriculture are directed to Escondido High's farm program. San Pasqual Academy: the county's residential campus for foster youth in the valley is staying open while the county looks for partners — supervisors declined a wind-down in May 2026, community input favored keeping the campus, and a Request for Information on its future is open through October 13, with a report to the Board of Supervisors by year-end. We track both on the News page.Is my address in the San Pasqual Union boundary?
🍎 K-8: San Pasqual Union
San Pasqual Union is a one-school district, so an address inside its boundary means one campus: 15305 Rockwood Road. The district's enrollment pages link a boundary map where you can type in an address to see whether it's inside. The map is labeled "Trustee Area Locator": trustee areas are the district's board-election areas, and together they cover the whole district.
Outside the boundary? Families can apply for a space-available interdistrict transfer; requests may be submitted beginning March 1 for the following school year.
🦅 9–12: Escondido Union High School District
High school is assigned separately, by EUHSD, and the San Pasqual Union boundary doesn't decide it. On EUHSD's Find Your School map (2025/26 boundaries), Rancho San Pasqual and Vistamonte addresses are in Orange Glen High's attendance area; addresses farther east along SR-78 are in San Pasqual High's. To confirm the 2026-27 assignment for a specific address, or to ask about options at another EUHSD high school, call EUHSD at (760) 291-3200.
